A total of 420 responses were validated from the survey. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that principals in Delta state public secondary schools, are generally effective and that the female principals were mote effective than their male counterparts. The female principals also demonstrated a higher sense of dedication to the management of both staff and student personnel’s than their male counterparts who on the other hand, proved to be better in the physical facilities management and school community relation functions. It could be concluded therefore, that public secondary schools in Delta state were effectively administered by principals. The study therefore recommended that the Ministry of Education should employ the services of experienced principals, who are in the merit or special grades cadre, by deploying such persons into the inspectorate division of the ministry for effective and efficient supervision of activities in the school system. Also, principals and teachers in rural areas should be given incentives, in the form of out-station allowance to attract highly experience principals to head schools in rural areas.
